My Story
I'm Chandler Wood - Chandy or Cheeseburger to close friends and family, Utah native, book and video game enthusiast, kind of a nerd and hopefully your next marketing leader.
Growing up I would get lost in the magic of my books and the boundless worlds they offered. My love for stories seamlessly transitioned into the realm of video games, where I reveled in the opportunity to craft my own adventures and forge emotional connections through interactive narratives. Astonishingly, back then, nerding out over the latest Final Fantasy or Harry Potter was not considered cool - it all came around eventually ; ) But that was never something that would deter me - instead I found comfort in the wonders and imagination of stories.
At 19, a near-death motorcycle accident shifted my perspective profoundly. It taught me that life is fragile and time is precious, and it’s this lesson to not sweat the small stuff that keeps me grounded and deeply present in every conversation and connection I make. I found solace yet again in games and the vibrant community of friends and professionals who I met as result. These connections led me on a career journey from managing in-house branding and customer experience at Guitar Center to becoming the editor-in-chief for PlayStation Lifestyle, and later leading Community Marketing for Avalanche on Hogwarts Legacy.
I know how to be a good marketer because I know how to be a good fan. My life and career has been a testament to the power of stories and creating engaging and meaningful interactions, so it's also by this foundation that I center my professional work. "Community isn’t the connections of many to the one. Community is the connections of many to many others." Everything comes down to relationships. Good marketing is "marketing for" versus "marketing to," building genuine engagement over mere transactions.
Like any good story, my life has been full of narrative hooks, red herrings, and plot twists. I don’t always know what’s coming in the next chapter, but I always enjoy turning the page.
